            This year was one to remember for Hunter athletics with a school record
SIX PSAL CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS AND SEVEN PSAL FINALISTS.
For the second year in a row, Boys’ Varsity Tennis won the PSAL city championship, by defeating rival Beacon HS.(Boys tennis won the 2023 citywide Mayor's Cup)  Girls’ Varsity Tennis  won the PSAL City championship by defeated rival Beacon for the first championship in school history. Girls’ Varsity Softball won the first PSAL city championship in school history with a dominating win vs Francis Lewis HS.  Boys’ Varsity Soccer won a PSAL city championship. Boys’ Varsity Fencing had an incredible win vs rival Stuy HS in the finals.  Boys’ Varsity Baseball captured an amazing PSAL City Championship with a thrilling win at Yankee Stadium, the first in Hunter history.   
 
           We had so many individual accomplishments this year for Hunter: Connor Dong (Baseball), Jason Wu (Fencing), Sophia Luo (Tennis), and Christopher Kim (Badminton) all won the prestigious PSAL Wingate award which honors the most accomplished student-athlete in each sport in New York City. 11 students won the HCHS 12 Season award, honoring a student-athlete that letters in three varsity sports for all four years: Marcus Mellody, Jash Kaur, Lily McColloch, Hannah Block, Finley McElhinney, Connor Dong, Jacob Graybow, Genevive Chang, Bradley Rodriguez, Alex Chen and Clare Harned.   Sophia Li finished 2nd in states as a sophomore in girls' golf --  Sophia also won the individual PSAL championship, and Jason Wu won the PSAL Roi Green award winning all three individual tournaments. Senior Alex Chen won the PSAL Pinstripe Bowl Scholar Athlete while Connor Dong was awarded the NY1 Spectrum Scholar Athlete award. Dylan McElhinney, Ella Cohen, Shane Murphy, and Henry Koike-Sieira all made marks at states and competed at the nationals for Hunter track and field – all four set both school and PSAL all-time records. Track and Field sent both cross country, indoor and outdoor teams to states and both indoor teams competed at the Penn Relays with Rebecca Sonn-Lees, Isaac Cohen, Jasper Newton, Oliver Flor and Hannah Block just some of the many people who shined. Lastly, three student-athletes will go on to play NCAA College Sports: Merlin Gogolin (MIT Basketball), Lauren Prieur (Johns Hopkins Fencing), and Connor Dong (UChicago Baseball).

In middle School sports – Hunter won three MSAL city championships: Girls MS Lacrosse won the MSAL city championship and  Girls MS basketball Gold team won their first basketball championship in school history.  Boys MS soccer won the MSAL soccer uptown championship.  Hunter Coed Tennis won the MSAL tennis championship for the 2nd year in a row. Girls MS softball won the Uptown championship and were MSAL city finalist. Girls Soccer, Girls Volleyball, Coed Flag Football, Boys Baseball, Boys Volleyball all made deep playoff runs. COED cross country and outdoor track and field both set Hunter school records and were among the top runners in NYC.   Hunter Athletics also introduced MS fencing back into the MSAL roster.    Overall it was another impressive year and should set Hunter Athletics up with a bright future.
