The Student Support Team (SST) is a team of administrators, teachers and counselors who discuss the academic plans and needs of HCES students. The team members include the principal, assistant principal, school counselor, learning specialists and designated teachers. The team recommends alternatives to students’ programs to meet their unique, individual, academic, social and emotional needs. These services may include working with a learning specialist, tutoring and/or meeting with a school counselor. Students at HCES may be eligible for other services through the New York City Department of Education and apply for these through the Committee on Special Education (CSE 9) covering District 2, where HCES is located. HCES will offer guidance through the NYCDOE process but it is the parents’ responsible to obtain these services.
