Celebrating the Carnegie Neighbors Gift to HCCS --Ribbon Cutting for the new Tree Pits

HCCS was pleased to welcome Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, Hunter College President Jennifer Raab, Councilmember Keith Powers and Candidate for NY Assembly District 73 (and HCHS alum!) Alex Bores for a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Carnegie Hill Neighbors to celebrate the gift of the newly installed tree pits surrounding the Campus Schools.

HCCS appreciates the generous gift from the Carnegie Hill Neighbors which embraced the opportunity to beautify our shared community by designing and installing custom-made, environmentally friendly (made from recycled materials) tree-pits around the campus.  Ms. Mccaulay and some of her HCES students shared how they will participate in a spring planting project in science class.  They were joined by HCHS students Anthony R. (9th grade) and 7th Analia R. (7th grade) from the Hunter High Horticulture Club (with Advisor Ms. Van Schendel) who recently began some fall planting near the door and in the 9/11 Memorial Tree planter near the flag (thank you to the club for their work to make our school more beautiful!)
