PSAL Updates - 3/13/2020
Dear Public Schools Athletic League Community,

The health and safety of our scholar-athletes and all 1.1 million New York City public school students is our top priority.

Yesterday, Mayor de Blasio announced that in response to the evolving coronavirus situation, and in line with recent city guidance and announcements, all Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) activities, including games, practices, try-outs and special events are suspended, effective immediately. We will update you with more information as it becomes available from our partners at the Office of School Health.

We are handling this situation with the utmost seriousness, and are following all protocols. Nothing matters more than the health and safety of our school communities—please keep an eye out for further updates from the PSAL team, and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. For more information about COVID-19, please review the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s https://www1.nyc.gov/assets/doh/downloads/pdf/imm/coronavirus-factsheet.pdf fact sheet, and please visit https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/health/health-topics/coronavirus.page at any time for critical updates, including ways to fight stigma and bias around the coronavirus.

We appreciate your understanding at this difficult time and apologize for the inconvenience to all of our scholar-athletes, who we know work so hard and are so dedicated. They deserve an athletic league that keeps their best interests at the forefront, which we will strive to do throughout this process.

We look forward to providing additional information and updates soon.

Sincerely,
Seth Schoenfeld
Senior Executive Director, PSAL
