Reduced Fee / Fee Waiver / Head Start Information
Families who need financial assistance for the Hunter College Elementary School application and testing fees may apply using the Reduced Fee Application in Ravenna. Those who have a waiver code from their Head Start school will also fill out this application.
Eligibility for a fee waiver is based on participation in certain NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA) programs, such as Cash Assistance, SNAP, or housing and rental assistance, OR other government-funded programs. Because funds are limited, meeting the criteria does not guarantee a fee waiver. Requests are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
How to Apply for Reduced Fee or Head Start
Step 1: Create a Ravenna Account
- Visit Ravenna and create a profile for your child.
Step 2: Select “Reduced Fee Application”
- When choosing the application type, select Reduced Fee Application to request financial assistance.
- DO NOT select the “Elementary School Application” if you are requesting a fee waiver.
Step 3: Complete the Application
- Submit your application by paying the $20 processing fee.
- If you have a Head Start waiver code, enter this at the payment page to waive the $20 fee.
Step 4: Provide Documentation
- Families will be asked to submit proof of household income and/or participation in programs such as CA, SNAP, TANF, or other eligible programs.
What Happens Next
- Approved families will be invited to a preliminary screening in early November. Screening is by invitation only. You must apply in order to be considered.
- Screening Date: Saturday, November 8 (the child must be available on this date).
- Children who qualify through this screening may be invited to complete full testing at no cost to the family.
