    Reduced Fee / Fee Waiver / Head Start Information

    Families who need financial assistance for the Hunter College Elementary School application and testing fees may apply using the Reduced Fee Application in Ravenna. Families with Head Start waiver codes will also use this application type.

    Eligibility for a fee waiver is based on participation in certain NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA) programs, such as Cash Assistance, SNAP, or housing and rental assistance, OR other government-funded programs. Because funds are limited, meeting the criteria does not guarantee a fee waiver.

    How to Apply for a Reduced Fee

    Step 1: Create a Ravenna Account
    • Visit Ravenna and create a profile for your child.
    Step 2: Select “Reduced Fee Application”
    • When choosing the application type, select Reduced Fee Application to request financial assistance.
    • DO NOT select the “Elementary School Application” if you are requesting a fee waiver.
    Step 3: Complete the Application
    • Submit your application by paying the $20 processing fee.
    • If you have a Head Start waiver code, enter it at the payment step.
    • The deadline to apply is 4:00pm on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
    Step 4: Provide Documentation
    • Families will be asked to submit proof of household income and/or participation in programs such as CA, SNAP, TANF, or other eligible programs.

    What Happens Next
    • Approved families will be invited to a preliminary screening in early November. Screening is by invitation only. You must apply to be considered for the screening.
    • Screening Date: Saturday, November 8 (the child must be available on this date).
    • Children who qualify through this screening may be invited to complete full testing at no cost to the family.
