HCHS student, Helen L. wins Lemelson Award at Broadcom Masters!
Congratulations to Helen L. who just won the Lemelson Award at Broadcom Masters Nationals (the 4th highest award). Details can be found here: https://www.societyforscience.org/content/press-room/2017-broadcom-masters-awards-100000-prizes
Helen competed in a five-day-long competition where she explained and fielded questions about her research (engineering an alternative energy device to convert kinetic energy of waves to electricity) and competed in team challenges with the other national finalists.
Helen has been awarded with a cash prize and a minor planet named in her honor. In addition, her science teacher, Mr. Lourdie Castillo was also awarded with a minor planet named in his honor.
