The Class of 2030 visits Governors Island

The Class of 2030 spent the day on Governors Island exploring the intersections of art, science, environmental studies, and technology. With New York Harbor as their backdrop, students engaged with experiences that brought classroom concepts into the world around them.

Highlights included Laboratory for Other Worlds, an art-science exhibition, and Mandala, an immersive sound-and-light installation inspired by the cycles of our solar system. Students also had the opportunity to explore marine biology and welding and fabrication through classes hosted by the Harbor School.

The day continued with opportunities to discover the island's public art, historic landmarks, and natural spaces through exploration and a scavenger hunt.

Through hands-on experiences and interdisciplinary exploration, students saw firsthand how learning extends beyond the classroom.

Special thanks to Ms. Ong Ante, Mr. Everett, Ms. Nixon-Friedheim, Mr. Scalise and Mr. Florio for their support.
