First HCHS Siemen's National Finalist winner-senior Brian H!

Congratulations to HCHS senior Brian H for becoming our first-ever National Finalist in the prestigious Siemens Competition in Math, Science and Technology.
Brian was selected to win a $25,000 scholarship for his work with the Dr. Marcus Khuri of Stonybrook University titled "On Sufficient Conditions for Trapped Surfaces in Spherically Symmetric Spacetimes” that has been summarized as "Brian found new geometrical conditions under which a spacetime—the fusion of time and three dimensional space—with spherical symmetry may form a trapped surface, an indicator of evolution into a black hole."

The Siemens Foundation established the Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology in 1999. The Competition is the nation’s premier science research competition for high school students and seeks to promote excellence by encouraging students to undertake individual or team research projects. It fosters intensive research that improves students' understanding of the value of scientific study and informs their consideration of future careers in these disciplines.

Congratulations Brian! We are thrilled for your success and for the work of the HCHS Science Research Program.
