HCHS Spring Concerts Celebrate a Year of Musical Excellence

The Hunter College High School Art and Music Department concluded the school year with two outstanding Spring Concerts, showcasing the talent, dedication, and artistry of student musicians across instrumental and choral ensembles.

The Spring Instrumental Concert on June 2 featured performances by the Concert Band, Junior Orchestra, and Senior Strings under the direction of Luke Batson, Concert Band Director, and Michael Stratechuk, Senior Strings Director. The Junior Orchestra was co-directed by Batson and Stratechuk, highlighting the collaboration and musical growth of Hunter's younger musicians.

The celebration continued on June 3 with the Spring Choral Concert, led by Micheline Beaudry, Junior Chorus Director; Robert Randall, Senior Chorus Director; and Michael Stratechuk, Chamber Music Director, with support from student teacher Tyler Sullivan. The evening featured a diverse repertoire that reflected the range and versatility of Hunter's vocal ensembles.

Among the memorable highlights was a performance of Moving in Stereo by The Cars, arranged by Gorfain, featuring electric violin soloists Zachary L. and Kevin Z., joined by special guest cellists from the Junior Orchestra.

Together, the concerts showcased months of rehearsal, artistic exploration, and collaboration. From powerful ensemble performances to featured student soloists, the Spring Concerts provided a fitting finale to a year of musical achievement and celebrated the vibrant arts community that is an integral part of life at Hunter College High School.

Bravo to all of the student performers, faculty directors, and guest musicians who made this year's Spring Concerts such a success!
