(If your child takes both NYS Exams and another type of exam, we will only accept the NYS Exam results as a qualifying score. See the “… administers NYS Exams” section above.)
The following exams can be used in place of NYS Exams for students whose schools do not administer NYS Exams:
- ERB CTP 5 (Reading Comprehension + Mathematics Parts 1 & 2)
(Score report must contain National Norm percentile (NN). See examples to the right and contact your school if the report does not match.)
- Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) (ELA total + Math total)
- TerraNova 3 (Reading Composite + Mathematics Composite)
- Stanford 10 Online (Total Reading + Total Mathematics)
(Must be taken at a school or testing center. Scores will also have to be reported directly by the school or testing center. The abbreviated battery is accepted.)
To qualify for AIP, a qualifying score is needed on both the Reading and Math subtests (see sample score reports to the right).
- Reading subtest (Spring 2026, 5th grade) = TBD
- Math subtest (Spring 2026, 5th grade) = TBD
Are both scores higher than these ranges? Please submit an 'HS Application' for a guaranteed seat.
Scores must be submitted with the application by uploading the official score report for the corresponding exam. The report must clearly display the student’s name, grade, scores, and exam year.
The following exams cannot be used as NYS Exam equivalents:
- ERB Milestones
- NWEA MAP
- iReady
- ISEE (new this year)
- SSAT (new this year)
If the only exam your child took in 5th grade is listed as unacceptable, please see the instructions for students who did not take exams below.
Families seeking approval for another standardized exam -- other than the ones listed above -- should email the report to the Admissions Office for review before applying.
